How a plantable notepad works

A plantable seed paper notepad is a small notebook whose cover is made from paper with seeds pressed into it. When the notepad is finished, the recipient tears off the cover, soaks it, lays it on soil and keeps it damp; with light and water, the seeds can sprout. Inside are about 50 recycled paper sheets for notes. It is one of the most explained items in our plantable seed products, and it is a regular at conferences and exhibitions, sustainability forums and school visits in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Doha.

Germination depends on soil, water, light and temperature, so we describe the cover as plantable rather than promising a result.

Printing on seed paper

Seed paper has a soft, textured surface, so full-colour digital print of up to about 100 x 130 mm gives the most reliable result, including a short message and the planting steps. A one-colour screen print of about 80 x 60 mm also works for a simple logo. Bold shapes and mid-sized text read best; very fine lines can soften on the fibres. Arabic and English instructions can both be printed, and we send a free digital mock-up first.

Packaging and ordering

Frequently asked questions

Which seeds are in the cover?

Common options are wildflower mixes, basil, tomato and other easy herbs, depending on availability. We confirm the seed type in your quote. Some GCC countries have rules on importing seeds, so we choose types that suit the destination.

Will the seeds grow in the Gulf climate?

They can sprout indoors in a pot with regular watering and indirect light, which suits Gulf homes and offices. Outdoors in summer heat, results are less reliable. We print simple indoor planting steps on the back cover.

Can the inner pages be printed too?

Yes. On larger orders, inner pages can carry a light logo, a header or lines. Inner pages are recycled paper rather than seed paper, so they print like normal paper and are not plantable.
