How a light-up logo pen works

A light-up logo pen has a small LED inside the barrel. The logo is laser-engraved through the coated metal surface, and when the user twists or clicks the top, the light shines through the engraving so the logo glows in white, blue or another LED colour. When the light is off, the pen looks like a normal engraved metal ballpoint.

Branding with laser engraving

Only laser engraving works for the glow effect, because the light must pass through the engraved lines. The engraving area is about 30 x 6 mm on the barrel, so a simple logo or a short word looks best. Bold shapes glow more evenly than fine text. Arabic logos work well, and we preview the result on the free digital mock-up.

Frequently asked questions

What colour does the logo light up in?

White and blue are the most common LED colours, and red, green or multi-colour versions are often available. The LED colour is the same on every pen in one batch, and we confirm the options in your quote.

How long do the batteries last?

The small button cells give many hours of light in short bursts, which is how the pen is normally used. The batteries can be replaced by unscrewing the barrel, so the pen keeps working as a normal ballpoint pen in any case.

Can the logo be printed instead of engraved?

A printed logo would block the light, so the glow effect needs laser engraving. A second print position is sometimes possible on the clip if you also want your brand colour shown on the pen.
